About our speakers
Gabriel Abad Fernandez, UWC Dilijan Head
Gabriel is a graduate of the Malaga University. Before UWC Dilijan, he worked at UWC South East Asia. In 2011 he moved to UWCSEA's East Campus as the founding Director of Boarding. After 16 years at UWC South East Asia, Gabriel has moved to Armenia to join UWC Dilijan as its Head of College.
Anna Afeyan Gunnarson, Co-founder of Afeyan Foundation; UWC Dilijan Board Member
Anna Afeyan Gunnarson has been involved in educational non-profit work for the past 20 years as a volunteer, teacher, board member and philanthropist through the Noubar and Anna Afeyan Foundation. Anna is a trustee and treasurer of the board of Beacon Academy in Boston.
Veronika Zonabend, UWC Dilijan Co-Founder and Board Chair
Veronika Zonabend is an impact investor and social entrepreneur. She is actively involved in philanthropy, focusing primarily on the promotion of global education. Together with her husband, Ruben Vardanyan, she is the founder of the RVVZ Family Foundation and the IDeA Charitable Foundation. Ms. Zonabend sits on the Boards of Trustees at UWC International (UK), the American University of Armenia and the Teach For Armenia Educational Foundation.
Pierre Gurdjian, President of the Board of Directors of the Free University of Brussels; UWC Dilijan Board member
Pierre Gurdjian is a Belgian senior professional with extensive experience in executive leadership, governance, and societal impact. He is the President of the Board of Directors of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Pierre is also Philanthropy and Strategy Partner of the IDeA Foundation. Prior to these roles, Pierre was a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company for 27 years.
