Responding to Change: New Horizons in Education

The online discussion “Responding to Change: New Horizons in Education” will be held on November 3, 5 p.m. Yerevan time (GMT+4). The event will kick off with the Young Aurora Final Project Presentations, with three teams from UWC Schools and Colleges presenting their plans to tackle a humanitarian concern in their school communities. The Aurora Dialogues will follow with a panel discussion titled ‘Responding to Change: New Horizons in Education’, where we will hear the panelists perspectives on how the pandemic has shaken up educational systems, how it has catalyzed innovative approaches within the educational sector, as well as the challenges of unequal access to educational resources and why it is that education cannot be separated from the humanitarian movement. The event will conclude with the announcement of the Young Aurora 2020 winning team.

Speakers:

  • Veronika Zonabend, Impact investor and social entrepreneur, co-founder of RVVZ Family Foundation, Founding partner and the Chair of the Board of Governors of UWC Dilijan College in Armenia;
  • Julia Middleton, Founder and Innovation Officer of Common Purpose UK;
  • Chris Bradford, Co-founder and CEO of African Leadership Academy;
  • Priyanka Mahat, UWC Dilijan, Alumna;
  • Sam Potolicchio, Founder and President of the Preparing Global Leaders Forum (PGLF), Leadership Professor at Georgetown University.

Moderator:

  • Hannah Tumpel, Deputy Executive Director of UWC International;
  • Andrew Nalani, Founder of the African Youth Leadership Experience.

Discussion language: English. Simultaneous interpretation to Armenian and Russian will be provided.
